to Squarespace.
If you want Google to index your site, you need Search Console.
This page shows the exact steps to verify your site, submit your sitemap, and request indexing.
No fluff. No breaking anything.
If your sitemap includes junk pages, unpublish/noindex those pages, then resubmit in Search Console.
Two ways to verify. Use the easiest option you have access to.
Create (or open) your Search Console property
In Google Search Console, add a property for your website. If you see two options, here’s the difference:
Verify ownership (pick one method)
Method A (best): DNS TXT record. Method B: HTML tag verification (if you can add it).
Note: If you don’t see Code Injection, use DNS verification.
Submit your sitemap
Squarespace sitemap is typically: /sitemap.xml
Request indexing for your most important pages
Submitting a sitemap helps discovery. Requesting indexing helps priority.
If your page shows “Crawled — currently not indexed,” fix the page first: Crawled — Currently Not Indexed (Squarespace).
Make Google’s job easier (so you get indexed faster)
Google indexes pages that are clear, specific, and internally linked.
Use: Website Audit Checklist and Website Copy Template.
If Search Console is connected and your pages still aren’t indexing, it’s almost always a content clarity + internal links problem. Not a “Squarespace problem.”
